1. What is this course about?

This comprehensive course prepares you to be an IT professional with the necessary skills to analyse, investigate and present evidence which can be used in a court of law. You will develop skills in IT, Cyber Law & Criminal Procedures, Psychology, Security, Forensics and Investigation skills. These are critical skills due to the increase of cybercrime and prevalent use of digital devices and computers in this digital age. You will also gain invaluable internship experience in your final year, working on real-life projects in local and overseas organisations. We have had students attached to Interpol (France) as well as local agencies. They focus on incident response related projects to detect possible security compromise of systems as well as projects specialising in digital forensics.

Minimum Entry Requirements

English Language (EL1)*Grades 1-6

To be eligible for selection, applicants must also have sat for at least one of the following subjects: Additional Combined Science, Additional Science, Biology, Chemistry, Combined Science, Computer Studies, Creative 3-D Animation, Design & Technology, Engineering Science, Food & Nutrition, Fundamentals of Electronics, General Science, Human & Social Biology, Integrated Science, Physics, Physical Science, Science (Chemistry, Biology), Science (Physics, Biology), Science(Physics, Chemistry), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

*Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/ Unified Examination Chinese (UEC) holders must have a minimum of grade 6 for the relevant English Language subject (e.g. Bahasa Inggeris).

Note: Applicants with complete Colour Appreciation Deficiency are not eligible to apply for this course.

With the strong foundation you receive in IT and the comprehensive knowledge that you build in digital forensics, you can expect to pursue a degree in Computer Science with specialisations in computer forensics or related courses.

Because of the pervasive use of computer and digital devices, criminal activities such as fraud, industry espionage, computer and network security incidents are steadily increasing. Thus, Digital Forensics graduates are in particularly high demand worldwide. You can expect to work in law enforcement agencies, financial institutions and banks, government agencies, data recovery, audit and consulting firms in the following types of positions:

You will learn using state-of-the-art technologies and digital forensics methodologies in acquiring the practical skills for this course.

You can also expect to graduate with more than a diploma as the course prepares our students to achieve Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA), Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) and Digital Forensics Analyst certifications.
