Business Objects, the world’s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, announced on 14 September 2006 the launch of the company’s partnership with Temasek Polytechnic to embark on new business intelligence (BI) academic initiatives. This partnership will focus on the development of business intelligence research programmes and training courses for academic staff and students, and aims to build local expertise and capabilities in business intelligence software.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at a special ceremony which took place on Temasek Polytechnic’s campus, by Mr. John Schwarz, CEO, Business Objects, and Mr Boo Kheng Hua Principal & CEO Temasek Polytechnic
"Business Objects is pleased to work with Temasek Polytechnic on the academic initiatives to develop Singapore’s business intelligence capabilities. The combined technology transfer expertise, access to innovative research and attachment programmes as a result of the collaboration will help cultivate talents and benefit the industry as a whole in the long run," said Mr Schwarz.
Business Objects will be providing US$300,000 worth of Business Objects’ industry leading business intelligence enterprise software for Temasek Polytechnic’s non-commercial research, development and academic purposes. Business Objects and Temasek Polytechnic will also jointly develop “Business Intelligence Systems”—a core curriculum module for students majoring in Temasek Informatics & IT School’s Diploma in Financial Business Informatics.
The partnership will also include an attachment programme for Temasek Polytechnic staff and students at different departments in Business Objects’ South Asia and Asia Pacific Japan HQ located in Singapore. This programme strives to provide students and staff with actual working experience in the IT industry and equip them with necessary skills sets to further develop the local business intelligence landscape.
