SIP Terms & Conditions

1. ALLOWANCE

  • A minimum monthly allowance of $440 inclusive of public holidays payable directly to the interns by cash, cheque or through bank transfer.
  • No contribution of CPF is needed by the company.
  • It is not a requirement to apply for work permit for non-Singapore citizen students.

2.INSURANCE COVERAGE

  • Employers shall provide the normal insurance coverage for employees. Students are covered under the Polytechnic's group personal accident policy.

  • WORKING PROCESSES

  • Participating companies are required to submit a project outline, describing the duties of the SIP student(s).
  • One or more assigned lecturers will act as Liaison Officer(s) between the organisation and the students.
  • Student attendance should be recorded and monitored by the participating company.
  • Each student will submit a report detailing his/her work experience in the organisation.
  • The participating company and the assigned lecturers will assess the student's performance, and the overall result will be recorded in his/her transcript.

4.OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENT

As part of Singapore's regionalisation drive, our students are encouraged to perform their internship overseas. Employers who require students to work outside Singapore for the entire period of the internship shall inform the polytechnic at least three months before the assignment. Employers may notify us one month in advance in the case of short trips (e.g. a few days to 2 weeks) to neighbouring countries. Companies providing Overseas Internship will be given priority in getting the interns.

5.GUIDANCE & RESOURCES FROM COMPANY

  • Students will receive instruction and guidance directly from their reporting companies. Each company should assign a supervisor to oversee the performance and progress of the student.

  • The role of the Liaison Officer is NOT to provide technical advice to students. Neither will the Liaison Officer provide assistance to the projects assigned to the students. His/her role is basically to mediate any issue arising between the company and the students.

  • The company must provide all the resources required for the students to execute his work in the company. The School will not provide these resources.

  • The students must work in the company premises. They cannot be instructed to work at home or any venue not designated by the company.

6.TERMINATION OF INTERNSHIP

A student must work for the company throughout the entire internship period. Their internship cannot be terminated unless one of the following circumstances occurs:

  • The student suffers from serious illness or injury that may cause him/her to stop work for more than 1 month
      • medical evidence must be provided by the students.
  • The student shows disciplinary problem
      • the company must notify the Liaison Officer at least 2 weeks in advance. Depending on the seriousness of the problem, the student may be issued with a warning letter and the company may be requested by the School to give the student a second chance, or the student may be considered as failing the internship program.
  • Termination of company business.
  • 7.DATA PROTECTION POLICY (DDP)

    Your company shall use any personal data that is shared by Temasek Polytechnic, which is related to the student(s) of Temasek Polytechnic, only for the purpose(s) of the student’s/students’ industrial attachment to your company, and that you shall not disclose to any third party, such personal data without the prior written consent of Temasek Polytechnic. Your company also agrees that the foregoing shall continue to have effect after the student(s) has/have been attached to your company.
