2005 - Students Reach Out to Help in Myanmar

A youth expedition jointly organised by Temasek Polytechnic and the humanitarian organisation, Mercy Relief, departed on an 8-day overseas community project stint in Bego, Myanmar. The group left Singapore on 9 October 2005.

Together with a volunteer from Mercy Relief, lecturer Lim Chee Yong and 7 students from the Diploma in Internet Computing, will assist in setting up a computer laboratory for Grace Home Orphanage in Bego. The computer laboratory will have 6 new computers and a printer. In addition, the group will carry out basic IT training for 150 children at the orphanage.

This expedition is part of Temasek Polytechnic’s drive to expose its students on what it means to be global citizens. Such experiential learning will be significant in enhancing the group’s education in global citizenship.
