Champions at Splash Awards 2011
A team of three seniors from the Diploma in Cyber & Digital Security has made a splash. They emerged national Champions amid heated competition at the 2011 Splash Awards.
The team, consisting of Kester Yeo Jia Jun, Lim Wai Liang Aloysius, and Tan Siying, created a mobile application to provide an engaging and active learning experience in history lessons.
The application transforms static images in history textbooks into 3D animated models, overlays audio and video clips on photos of historical personalities and maps, offers quizzes and podcasts, and encourages collaboration through forums and group mind mapping.
These features make history textbooks come alive and history learning engaging, effectively meeting the challenge of one of the competition topics, which is to help create fun and an enjoyable experience in learning Singapore’s history and/or the Ministry of Education’s history curriculum.
In this competition, jointly organised by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) Student Chapter and Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), participants were challenged to develop heritage-based or inspired mobile applications for students and tourists who explore heritage sites and/or study Singapore’s history.
