On Thursday 11 March 2010, a team of four students comprising Elson Ong Yi Qiang, Tan Ser Han, Tan Sin Yee Cindy and Stacy Goh Yun Si from the Diploma in Financial Business Informatics presented their innovative life-sized board game during a rigorous competition organised by the Temasek Polytechnic’s Entrepreneurship Centre to clinch the Championship trophy and cash prize of S$600.
Healthy GO4L! is a life-sized board game in which players can perform various exercises such as sit-ups, crunches, and push-ups. It is a 2-in-1 exercising buddy that combines the fun of playing a board game with a fitness regime for people of all ages and fitness levels. Through Healthy GO4L!, the students sought to promote a healthy lifestyle for people across all age groups while incorporating the element of fun.
The team, under the guidance of their lecturer, Ms Joanna Tan, worked on this project for approximately six months. In the process, they even consulted venture capitalists in order to further refine the product to ensure that it was marketable and commercially viable. The board game has gone into production. One of the team members, Stacy Goh shared that “while the going was tough at times, the effort was all worth it” as the team managed to “create something that was fun and which helped people to keep healthy!”
