Darren Sim Chong Chian was conferred the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award in April 2006 and again in April 2007. This annual award is given to outstanding members of Microsoft's peer-to-peer communities, and is based on the past year's contributions made to those communities online and offline. The MVP Award recognizes those participants who have made a highly positive impact in the technical and product communities in which they participate.
A senior student of the Diploma in Information Technology, Darren has been a Microsoft Student Champion since 2005 and has conducted numerous workshops and given many talks on the latest trends and technologies.
A former student of Maris Stella High School, Darren seeks to optimise the way he spends his time and constantly embraces opportunities to learn.
Asked to share his thoughts, Darren had this to say: ‘The flexible design of the diploma course at TP has allowed me opportunities to venture into the industry to appreciate and make use of what I had learnt at the InfoTech School. I am very grateful, as this has enabled me to achieve what I have today.’
Darren is the youngest MVP in the Asia Pacific region and the only Singaporean student to receive the MVP Visual Developer for ASP/ASP.NET award. There are only 248 MVP Visual Developers for ASP/ASP.Net in the world and TP is proud to have one of them in our poly.
[Special Note: Darren also presented a talk at the Visual Studio Developer’s Conference in San Francisco at the end of March 07. It is a rare opportunity for someone as young as Darren to be invited to such an event. Darren has expressed gratitude to TP for the numerous opportunities that it has provided him to nurture his passion for IT.]
