2008 - Wireless Lifeline

This project was developed by Goh Chinnskii, Yeo Wei Chong and Poh Kian Keat Raymond, from the Diploma in Mobile & Wireless Computing.

The Wireless Lifeline is a monitoring system that aims to reduce the number of drowning incidences, especially amongst kayakers. Using relatively low cost and widely available technologies such as the Short Message Service (SMS) and Global Positioning System (GPS), the system automatically sends out SOS signals when a kayak mounted with the sensors capsizes. This allows the rescue team to locate and attend to the victims quickly. Thus, the Wireless Lifeline is a system that is easy to deploy, saves costs and more importantly, saves lives.
